Thanks for purchasing our Live Phytoplankton! Here is a quick guide to explain our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee for Phytoplankton products. There are several questions that customers have when it comes to purchasing Live Phytoplankton and this should help answer any questions or concerns you might have.

Does your Phytoplankton smell rotten or perhaps you believe it may be dead? The following information should help put your mind at ease with your order:

Live Phytoplankton bottles may arrive warm, and that is perfectly ok! Phytoplankton is cultured in warm temperatures and can easily survive various temperature swings during shipping transit. While bottled, Phytoplankton may release gases that might make you think it is rotten or spoiled, but that is typically not the case. We recommend removing the cap for at least 15 minutes to allow those trapped gases to escape. After 15 minutes, replace the cap, shake, and keep refrigerated.

We have stress tested our Phytoplankton by sending it across the United States with a 2 week roundtrip and no refrigeration! Once we received the bottle, it had a foul smell to it but after the release of produced gases, we were able to successfully culture a new batch of Phytoplankton without a crash and feed it to our Copepods! Our typical shipping transit time is 2-3 days which is well within normal shipping parameters for Live Phytoplankton.

If you believe that your Live Phytoplankton is dead on arrival (DOA), please take photos and/or videos of the Phytoplankton along with its original packaging within 12 hours of receiving your order or we cannot grant a refund or exchange. If the product has been used, unfortunately, we will not be able to offer a refund or exchange. Please send all photos and videos, along with order# to support@algaedepot.com.

We would kindly ask that before leaving negative feedback or negative reviews, that you reach out to us to address any further concerns you might have. At the end of the day, if you’re still not happy with the product (following DOA policy), we will gladly refund or replace your order, no questions asked!
